LA Kings Mailbag: Quick Vezina Tour, Cup Contenders, Forsberg, and Free Agency

Who would you say is a better fit for the Kings, Bryan Rust or Filip Forsberg? — Joe S.

Let me tell you right now, either one of these guys would improve the Kings instantly; however, I think Filip Forsberg would be the better of the two.

Forsberg and Viktor Arvidsson are best friends and were devastated about being split up this offseason. Also, Forsberg is a big player, 6’1′ and 205 lbs, putting up over point-per-game stats; that’s a dangerous player to play against.

Unfortunately, I’d say that both Forsberg and Rust are likely not going to be traded this season, as both of their teams are currently in the playoff chase, and they’re both valuable pieces for their teams.

Both players are set to become unrestricted free agents in July, so the Kings will be free to snag them then but don’t expect either one coming in as a deadline acquisition.
