Season review

Kenta Isogai joined the Reign on a one-year AHL contract after scoring 78 points in 69 games combined with the Wenatchee Wild and Victoria Royals of the WHL. Isogai split time between the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (ECHL) and the Reign. In 28 games with Greenville, the 21-year-old recorded 17 points (5 G, 12 A) and added six points in 28 games when in the Reign lineup.

Isogai had to adjust to his role, as many players making the jump from juniors to the professional level do, as a fourth-line checking winger. His energy and work ethic reminded me of former Kings’ fourth-line center Blake Lizotte, but with more speed. All in all, it wasn’t a bad year for the first-year pro on an AHL contract, one that he earned from development and rookie camp.
