Season review
Jacob Doty’s job with the Reign is simple: provide a veteran presence, shepherd the group, and bring the physicality and drop the gloves if needed in a fourth-line role. Doty, 32, is not a skilled player and won’t light up the scoreboard, but may light up the penalty minutes side of things. He knows his role and plays it well. While not a mainstay in the lineup, he did wear an “A” on his jersey at times throughout the season.

Doty scored twice in 48 regular-season games and suited up for the first game of the playoffs before being a healthy scratch in the final four. In his seventh year with the Reign, Doty led the team in penalty minutes and in fights with eight.

His AHL contract expires on June 30th, making him a free agent. If he is brought back, it would be under another AHL contract with the same role.
