Here are the three takeaways from Wednesday’s 6-3 victory:
Hello old friend
An old friend of the Ontario Reign had a big night last night in a losing effort. His name was Sheldon Rempal. After finishing two seasons at Clarkson University, Rempal was signed as an unrestricted free agent by the LA Kings in March of 2018. In two seasons with the Ontario Reign, Rempal registered 61 points in 105 games (19 goals and 42 assists). After the 2019-2020 season ended Rempal wasn’t tendered a contract and left as a free agent.
Last night Rempal recorded three points on the night. His first point was a power-play goal to put Henderson on the board in the second period. Last season, as a member of the Abbotsford Canucks, Rempal recorded eight points in six games. This season, as a member of the Henderson Silver Knights, Rempal continues to haunt his former team with seven points in five games. He loves playing his former team and last night was no different.

Contributions from everyone
Everyone chipped in last night for the Ontario Reign. TJ Tynan (3), Lias Andersson (3), Samuel Fagemo (2), and Aidan Dudas (2) all had a multi-point game for the Reign. In addition, Tyler Madden recorded another goal, his third in three straight games and Martin Chromiak has points in back-to-back games. The power play, which has struggled at times this year, went 3-for-6 and the penalty kill got big kills in the third. The Reign are going to need these contributions with players like Alex Turcotte, Jordan Spence, and Helge Grans out for the time being.

With his two-goal night, Lias Andersson now leads the Reign in goals with eleven on the season.
Alex Turcotte misses his third straight game
At the beginning of the year, Ontario had a loaded roster and featured depth at the center position. With Akil Thomas out indefinitely, Alex Turcotte missing his third straight game, and Quinton Byfield and Rasmus Kupari up with the Kings, the Reign are not as deep at the center position as they were to start the year. Turcotte took part in warm-ups, according to Ontario Reign insider Jared Shafran, but ended up being a late substitution.
Although Turcotte took warmups, Madden and Fagemo are starting tonight’s game on the wings with Alan Quine at center. https://t.co/exKm5zxQ3t

2 times through the Reign forward lines and here's how Ontario has looked (without Turcotte). Nikita Pavlychev is in the lineup for his first AHL game of the season.

Nikita Pavlychev, number 19, had to play third-line center one day after being called up from the ECHL. We’ll see if Turcotte plays in the Reign’s next game. If not, it’s another unfortunate setback for the former 2019 fifth-overall pick.
UP NEXT: The Reign travel to San Diego to take on the Gulls. The game is on Friday, January 13th, and starts at 7 PM PT. The game can also be seen on AHLTV.
