The Ontario Reign played three games during the week and went 2-1-0-0 winning their two games in overtime against the Roadrunners.

The Ontario Reign started the week losing to the Henderson Silver Knights at home, 3-1. They traveled to Tucson for the weekend and left with a two-game sweep winning both games in overtime. Plenty of players could have made the three stars of the week list. Before we start, I would like to give two honorable mentions who didn’t make the cut.
The first honorable mention is Jordan Spence. Spence continues to have a great season in Ontario as he racked up three more assists in the three games this past week. For the season, Spence has two goals and 19 assists for 21 points in 22 games.
The second honorable mention goes to the goalies. As has been the case all season, the goalies gave the Ontario Reign a chance to win every game. Cal Petersen started two games and made 70 saves on 75 shots faced and earned a 1-1-0-0 record. Matthew Villalta started the other game making 17 saves on 19 shots, earning a 1-0-0-0 record.
Now, let’s see who made the three stars of the week:
3rd star:
Andre Lee
Stat line: Three games, one goal, zero assists, one point, +/- 0 rating, three shots on goal
You might be wondering why Andre Lee was named the third star of the week for the Reign, which is understandable. Lee has been noticeable on the fourth line with Nate Thompson and Samuel Helenius in the last couple of weeks. In Friday’s game against the Roadrunners, Lee finally got his first professional goal after being snake-bitten in the last few games. Not only was it his first professional goal, but it was also his first point of the season. It’s good to see Lee get rewarded for his good play of late. Getting his first professional goal earned him third star of the week honors.

2nd star:
TJ Tynan
Stat line: Three games, one goal, four assists, five points, – 1 rating, five shots on goal
The captain keeps on doing his thing. TJ Tynan recorded five points in the three games last week for the Ontario Reign and continues to heat up. Tynan’s lone goal of the week came on the power play in Ontario’s 3-1 loss to the Henderson Silver Knights. The 30-year-old also recorded two assists in each of the two games against the Tucson Roadrunners as well. His play earned him second star of the week honors.

1st star:
Quinton Byfield
Stat line: Three games, two goals, two assists, four points, – 1 rating, thirteen shots on goal
Quinton Byfield continues to play well and rack up points. Through three games last week, Byfield recorded two goals and two assists and scored the overtime winner in Friday’s 4-3 win against the Roadrunners. Byfield currently leads the Ontario Reign in goals with nine, while only playing in 13 games. Another outstanding week earned Byfield first star of the week honors. If he keeps up this type of play, he should be back on the Kings…we hope.
