*NOTE: Since August 23rd, my Mom has picked the order of the training camp player previews for the Reign players because I couldn’t figure out what order to do them in. So, I asked for her assistance. Today, she chose Kenta Isogai!
2025-26 season
Kenta Isogai made a name for himself in development camp in the summer of 2025, earning himself a two-year AHL contract. Isogai started the season in the ECHL with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits before earning a call-up to the Ontario Reign in early November. He spent time with Greenville and Ontario throughout the season before being a mainstay in Ontario at the end.

Isogai was a scorer in juniors, but players sometimes have to adjust their game when moving to the pros. Instead of being a scorer on the Reign, Isogai was a grinding, blue-collar fourth-line winger but did chip in offensively from time to time.

In 28 regular-season games with Ontario, Isogai recorded three goals and three assists. His blue-collar style of play meshed well with Aatu Jamsen and Jack Hughes on the fourth line, which was Ontario’s energizer line in their playoff series against the Coachella Valley Firebirds. In the playoffs, he recorded an assist in three straight games, giving him a total of three assists in four games.

2026-27 outlook
Isogai will return to the Reign and will compete in the Rookie Faceoff tournament for the second straight year. I predict Isogai will split time between Greenville and Ontario again, but that will depend on the Reign’s forward depth (which seems plentiful). When called upon, I expect him to still play with that hard-working mindset on the fourth line.
