A week has passed, and it’s time for another LA Kings prospect update. Goaltender Hampton Slukynsky highlighted this week’s update by winning both of his starts for Western Michigan University (NCAA). Slukynsky started the season’s final four games after serving as a 1A/1B tandem with Cameron Rowe for the season up until these past two weeks. LA’s fourth-round pick from the 2023 draft finished his freshman season with an 11-5-1 record, 2.04 GAA, and .920 sv%.
His 2.04 GAA was the best among any goalie in the NCHC when facing teams in that conference (NCHC) and third-best among all freshmen goalies in the NCAA. His save percentage was fifth-best among freshmen goalies across the NCAA. It was a great regular season for the 19-year-old. WMU will be playing St. Cloud State in a best-of-three series in the quarterfinal round from March 14-16 in the NCHC tournament.
