LA Kings Prospect Update – Week 2/24

A week has passed, and it’s time for another LA Kings prospect update. A different player highlighted this week’s update after forward Liam Greentree held that honor for three consecutive weeks. While it is a different player, this prospect does play in the same league as Greentree. The player who highlighted this week’s update is goaltender Carter George. The second-round pick from last summer’s draft by the Kings stopped 120 of 129 shots faced (.930 sv%) in three starts for the Owen Sound Attack (OHL).

George made 42 saves in the Attack’s 5-1 victory over the Niagara IceDogs in the first game of the week. His second start didn’t go according to plan against the league’s best London Knights. George allowed six goals on 34 shots and got pulled just past the midway point of that game as the Knights thrashed the Attack with a 9-1 drubbing.

Reminder: George grew up as a Kings fan and that save looks identical to one former Kings netminder Jonathan Quick would make on more than several occasions.

Back to George. The 18-year-old netminder would get the start the following night for the Attack and made a season-high 50 saves on 52 shots, also a season high, in the Attack’s 3-2 shootout victory over the Kitchener Rangers. He also recorded a secondary assist in the shootout victory as well.

In 41 games for the Attack, George has a 13-20-3-3 record along with a 3.38 GAA and .909 sv%. His .909 sv% is fifth among all goalies in the OHL. Don’t get too frightened by those numbers as the Attack are a bottom-five team in the league via points percentage.
