Charles Hudon

Birthdate: June 23, 1994

Birthplace: Alma, Canada

Height: 5’10

Weight:190 lbs

Position: Left wing/right wing

Shoots: Left

Draft: 5th round, 122nd overall, 2012 NHL Entry Draft

2022-2023 season

After spending a season in the Tampa Bay Lightning organization, Charles Hudon signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Colorado Avalanche. Hudon played nine games with the Avalanche but spent most of the season in the AHL with the Colorado Eagles. After losing four of their five top scorers from the previous season, Hudon proved to be a valuable player for the Eagles. In 61 games, Hudon led the Eagles in goals (29) and points (54) for an offensively challenged team. One area where Hudon was utilized very well was on the power play. He scored 17 of his 29 goals on the man advantage and has 30 power-play goals combined in the previous two seasons.

2023-2024 outlook

Hudon was one of three players who signed with the Ontario Reign after playing with the Colorado Avalanche organization the year prior. With Hudon signing a two-year AHL contract means that he will not have to worry about moving his family again next summer and will be a leader for the Ontario Reign with some prospects turning professional. With Lias Andersson signing a one-year deal with the Montreal Canadiens in July, Hudon is a perfect replacement to fill that void on the first line and top power-play unit that Andersson left. Playing on the top line means playing alongside two-time AHL MVP, TJ Tynan, an excellent passer, and Hudon should have no problems being set up for great scoring opportunities at 5-on-5 and on the power play.
