LA Kings name Mike Buckley new goaltending coach

After promoting Bill Ranford to Director of Goaltending last month, the LA Kings have found his successor in Mike Buckley.

Buckley recently spent eight seasons in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization from 2013-2021. He started as the goalie development coach before being promoted to goaltending coach in 2017. He was let go by the Penguins before the 2021-2022 season. During his time in the Penguins’ organization, the Penguins and their AHL affiliate received many goaltending accolades and two all-star game appearances, per the LA Kings PR. Most notably, his guidance as the goalie development coach within his first four seasons in the organization saw Matt Murray help lead the Penguins to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships (2016, 2017).

That’s one goaltending coach vacancy filled in the organization, as the Ontario Reign will need a new goaltending coach after Matt Millar joined Bill Ranford in his promotion.
