The Kings will be going with fourteen forwards, seven defensemen, and two goalies on opening night. Defenseman Jacob Moverare and goalie Phoenix Copley cleared waivers and have joined the Ontario Reign. In addition, forwards Rasmus Kupari and Andre Lee were assigned to Ontario as well.
The biggest takeaway from the final roster decisions was Brandt Clarke. Picked by the LA Kings 8th overall in the 2021 draft, it was either the NHL or OHL this year as he isn’t eligible to play in the AHL this season. After a strong rookie tournament, training camp, and preseason, the Kings decided to keep him on the opening night roster. In addition to making the roster, Clarke will be changing his number from 54 to 92.

Fans have been waiting for this moment and it is finally here. For now, Clarke will most likely get his nine games before his entry-level contract kicks in (a decision management will need to make later on).
The Kings’ home opener is Tuesday, October 11th at 7 pm PST, with the potential debut of Clarke.
