An overage, Connors was eligible to be drafted in 2021. Though he went unranked at most publications (some will not rank overagers), FloHockey’s Chris Peters had this to say:
The Kings selected one of my favorite sleepers in this draft as Kenny Connors goes 103rd. I had him ranked 97th. Played a big role for Dubuque this season and is so versatile. Don't be shocked if he makes a push to make the summer World Junior team as he was invited to camp.
