The #2 seed Reign swept #7, San Diego, beating the Gulls 7-4 in the first game before winning 3-2 in overtime in Game 2. Both of those games were played at Toyota Arena. The Reign will start the next round against the #3 seed in the Pacific Division on the road in Colorado.
Like Ontario, the Eagles hosted their first-round matchups against the #6-seed Henderson Silver Knights. They made quick work of the Vegas farm team, winning both games by identical 5-2 scores.
The two teams got well acquainted recently as they met five times in the month of April, including three in a row late in the month.
It’ll be another opportunity for T.J. Tynan, whose overtime goal in Game 2 against San Diego propelled the Reign to the next round, to take on his old team.
Game one is Wednesday at 6:05 pm PT and can be seen on AHLTV.
