The LA Kings have activated Quinton Byfield from injured reserve, immediately loaning him to the AHL’s Ontario Reign.

On Sunday, the LA Kings announced that they have activated Quinton Byfield from injured reserve. However, his season debut in the NHL will have to wait as the club’s second-overall pick from 2020 has been loaned to the AHL’s Ontario Reign.

There was plenty of excitement surrounding the 19-year-old cracking the Kings’ opening-night roster to begin the 2021-22 campaign. However, a left-ankle fracture prevented that as Byfield went down on Oct. 5 during the club’s preseason finale against Arizona.

Byfield made his NHL debut back on Apr. 28, playing a total of six regular-season games with the LA Kings last season, registering one assist and a plus-one rating. Prior to that, the Newmarket, Ont., native also played 32 games for the Reign in 2020-21, scoring eight goals and 12 assists.

Only time will tell before we find out when Byfield will make his debut — for either the Kings or the Reign — this season, but be sure to stay tuned for more.
