Kupari, Kaliyev, and Strand were assigned to Ontario on Tuesday by the LA Kings per theahl.com.

Returning home after a four-game road trip, the LA Kings have reassigned Rasmus Kupari and Arthur Kaliyev and defenseman Austin Strand to the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League. The moves signal that Lias Andersson and Andreas Athanasiou could soon come off the injured reserve list and back in action for the Kings and another potential callup from Ontario.

Rasmus Kupari, the 2018 first-round draft pick of the Kings, has played in five of the team’s six games this season. The twenty-one-year-old had yet to record a point but showed flashes of the speed and skill that made him a first-round pick.

The twenty-year-old Kaliyev was drafted in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft by the LA Kings. He spent most of last season playing for the Reign, where he led the team in scoring with fourteen goals and seventeen assists. In five games with Los Angeles this season, he had recorded one assist.

Austin Strand was called up in the wake of the Drew Doughty injury. A right-shot defenseman, Strand is a physical player who can also occasionally chip into the offense.
