The LA Kings have announced their 2021-22 regular-season schedule will begin on October 14th with a game against the Vegas Golden Knights.

LA Kings hockey returns with a full 82 game schedule, the team announced on Thursday. The Kings will open the regular season on October 14th at home at the Staples Center against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The LA Kings schedule will look much similar to years prior to the 2021 season. They will remain in the Pacific Division, joined by the Anaheim Ducks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, San Jose Sharks, Seattle Kraken, Vancouver Canucks, and the Vegas Golden Knights.

With eight teams currently in each of the four divisions of the NHL, each team will play either three or four games against divisional opponents, three games against teams from the other division in their conference, and finally, two games versus each of the teams from the opposite conference.

The current schedule does not have  “baseball-style” scheduling where teams occasionally play each other in consecutive games, as rumored. The All-Star Weekend will be on February 4th and 5th, followed by a break from February 7th to February 22nd to accommodate potential NHL participation in the 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

The playoff format will return to the old format, which featured the top three teams in each division and two wild card teams from each conference that will qualify for postseason play.

Kings games will be broadcast on television by Bally Sports West and ESPN+, while national games will be on either ABC, ESPN, or TNT. For radio coverage, the LA Kings can be found on the iHeart Radio Network. The full 2021-22 LA Kings schedule can be found here.
