LA Kings Training Camp Preview: Grant Slukynsky

With training camp just around the corner, we are previewing each player on the LA Kings roster. Up next: Grant Slukynsky!

2025-26 season

Grant Slukynsky wrapped up his third season in college and his second season being teammates with his younger brother Hampton at Western Michigan University. While Hampton, one of the top goalie prospects for the Kings, was busy stopping pucks, Grant was busy leading Western Michigan in scoring.

Grant recorded 40 points in 39 games while playing as the team’s second-line center, leading the team in points en route to their NCAA title defense, which saw them come up short in a loss to the eventual champion Denver Pioneers. After the season, the Slukynsky brothers turned pro, signing entry-level contracts with the Kings. Grant signed a one-year deal while his brother signed a three-year entry-level deal.

2026-27 outlook

I consider Slukynsky a Swiss Army knife type of player. He can play center or wing, play on the power play and penalty kill, play anywhere in the lineup, is solid at faceoffs, and has good playmaking skills.

I don’t envision him being an elite NHL player, but topping out as a solid AHL player/depth NHL player. I expect him to contribute for the Reign when he plays, but his position will be something to watch. Ontario is expected to have a plethora of players who can play wing or center, so that will be something to watch closely at the beginning of the season.
