Corey Perry

2025-26 season

After years, and I mean years, of being public enemy number one to Kings fans, Corey Perry signed a one-year deal with the Kings that was met with plenty of disdain from a portion of the fan base. Perry was always a player you loved to have on your side, but one you hated playing against. Nicknamed the worm, Perry would miss the first month of the season with a knee injury.

When he finally put on the Kings jersey, Perry proved to be a valuable signee while playing fourth-line minutes. In his first 10 games as a King, Perry would score 7 goals. In 50 games, Perry scored 11 goals, four on the power play, and recorded 28 points while being a menace in front of the net.

Perry would be traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning at the trade deadline for a second-round pick, and he would record 9 points in 22 games with Tampa Bay.

2026-27 outlook

Welcome back, Corey! Perry signed a one-year deal for the second straight summer with the Kings. Perry, 41, will return for his 22nd season and is expected to play a fourth-line role again, perhaps getting occasional power-play minutes like he did last year.

Perry was one of three players the Kings signed at the age of 35 or over. I’m curious to see if the Kings will healthy scratch him at points of the season to keep him fresh and an impactful player for the playoffs. Nevertheless, Perry should once again be a valuable presence in a limited fourth line role.
