A week has passed, and it’s time for another LA Kings prospect update. Liam Greentree highlighted the prospect update for the final time this season with a sensational performance to open the week. Greentree went bonkers in game three of the Windsor Spitfires’ second-round matchup against the Kitchener Rangers with a six-point night in a 6-3 victory to give the Spitfires a 3-0 series lead. The 19-year-old recorded a primary point on all six Windsor goals and notched the first five-goal playoff game in Windsor history. Truly Remarkable.

However, the next three games weren’t kind to Greentree. He went scoreless in game four and played through an illness that would eventually keep him out of the lineup for game five despite being a part of warm-ups.
No Liam Greentree for the Spitfires tonight. He was ailing Wednesday but gave it a go in Game 4. Couldn’t answer the bell tonight. Greentree broke Ernie Godden’s franchise record with five goals in Windsor’s Game 3 win in this series.

Greentree would return to the Spitfire lineup for game six and was held off the scoresheet again — the first time he was held off the scoresheet in back-to-back games in these OHL playoffs — as the Rangers forced a game seven with a 4-0 victory. You have to wonder if the illness has affected him physically and his performance for the last three games, but Windsor has something bigger to worry about. The Spitfires will play in a game seven after having a stranglehold 3-0 series lead and will look to avoid being on the wrong side of a reverse sweep tomorrow. Whether Greentree is still battling an illness or not by then, Windsor will need him to find a way to regain his scoring touch from their first nine playoff games if they want to advance.
If Windsor is on the losing side of game seven, Greentree will be eligible to be re-assigned to the Ontario Reign, as they will look to embark on a deep playoff run of their own, or serve as a black ace to the Kings. Let’s hope Windsor prevails in game seven and keeps Greentree’s hopes of captaining Windsor to a J. Ross Robertson Cup and the Memorial Cup alive.

Spoke with Samuel Helenius about heading into his first Stanley Cup playoffs.
He thinks playoff hockey fits his style well and he’s looking forward to the increased physicality.
No nerves felt there. He’s ready.
