LA Kings: Liam Greentree Dominates in Windsor’s Game Three Victory (OHL)

Liam Greentree did it again! The LA Kings’ top prospect took over yet another playoff game in the Windsor Spitfires’ game three victory over the Kitchener Rangers.

Entering last night’s game against Kitchener, the 19-year-old captain of the Spitfires had 18 points (9 G, 9 A) in seven playoff games. After going bonkers in last night’s game with a six-point performance, that included five(!) goals on the evening, those numbers bumped up to 24 points in eight playoff games. It wasn’t only him who torched Kitchener on the scoresheet as his fellow linemate, Ilya Protas, had a four-point night himself—a 10-point night combined for the dynamic duo.

For Greentree, the five goals on Monday evening were the story. Two were on the power play, two were at five-on-five, and the last one was an empty-netter. His five-goal performance set a Spitfires record for most goals in a playoff game.

While electrifying prospect in the Kings’ pipeline has all the makings to be a power forward with his physical game and offensive skillset, he also has confidence and swagger in his game, and it was on display when he opened the scoring, giving a ‘silence’ gesture to the Kitchener crowd.

As of this writing, Greentree leads the OHL in goals (14), tied for first in points (24), and tied for third in assists (10). 22 of his 24 points are primary points. Despite his concerns about his skating, Kings fans have every right to be extremely excited about Greentree’s offensive potential. And, he has played on the penalty kill in addition to being on the top power play unit, too.
