LA Kings: Liam Greentree Suspended For Final Two OHL Regular Season Games

The quest for a 50-goal and 120-point season in the OHL for Liam Greentree came to an end on Wednesday morning. The Ontario Hockey League announced they have suspended Greentree for the final two games of the Windsor Spitfires’ regular season due to a checking from behind penalty that occurred in Sunday’s game for Windsor.

The checking from behind penalty assessed to Greentree (major penalty and games misconduct) occurred with 2:27 remaining in the third period this past Sunday in the Spitfires’ 8-5 victory over the league’s best London Knights. While I couldn’t find a clip of it, the incident may have occurred with Knights defenseman Sam Dickinson and it was clear Spitfires fans weren’t pleased with the league’s ruling.

The LA Kings‘ first-round pick from this past summer won’t reach the 50-goal and 120-point mark, he will finish the season with 49 goals, 70 assists, and 119 points in 64 games. He’ll be eligible to return to the Windsor lineup for game one of their first-round playoff series, which should start next week.
