Another week has passed and it’s time for our LA Kings weekly prospect update. This week’s update was highlighted by Erik Portillo. Portillo made one start for the Ontario Reign during the week and stopped 32 of 35 shots for his 20th win of the season in the Reign’s 4-3 victory over the Bakersfield Condors. By earning his 20th win of the season, Portillo became the second rookie goalie to record 20 wins in a season in the Reign’s AHL history. Cal Petersen was the other goalie to accomplish that feat in the 2017-18 season. Portillo has exceeded expectations with his play this season, and next year will be about taking that next step in his development.
