LA Kings prospect update – Week 1/22

Another week has passed, and it’s time for another LA Kings weekly prospect update. Last week’s prospect update was highlighted by forward Akil Thomas. In two games for the Ontario Reign, Thomas recorded four points (2-2-4), including a three-point night in the Reign’s 5-1 victory last Friday.

After missing most of last season due to a shoulder injury, Thomas has posted 30 points in 41 games. He has been a key contributor and reliable player in any situation head coach Marco Sturm puts him in. He currently is tied for second on the team in goals (15) and is fifth on the team in assists (15) and points (30). His 41 games are the most he’s played in a season since turning pro. Like several other Kings prospects, he is another one who has bad injury luck but is still fighting for a spot in the organization’s future plans.
