Another week has passed, and it’s time for another LA Kings weekly prospect update. This week saw plenty of players have strong performances for their respective teams. Samuel Fagemo and Akil Thomas combined for seven of the eight Ontario Reign goals in three games. Hampton Slukynsky had another strong performance in the USHL. Erik Portillo continues to develop in the right direction, while Jacob Ingham continues to have a strong campaign after missing all of last season with a back injury.
However, there was one performance that stood out from a player overseas. That player was Kasper Simontaival. In three games for KalPa, Simontaival recorded three goals and three assists for six points. All three of his goals came in KalPa’s 6-4 loss to Sport on January 10th. It was his first hat trick of the year. He now has ten points (5-5-10) in his last eight games.

It’s unclear what his future holds in the Kings organization, but his contract with KalPa ends at season’s end, and the Kings must sign him by June 1st, per CapFriendly, or they lose his rights.
