LA Kings prospect update – Week 12/11

Another week has passed, and it’s time for our weekly LA Kings prospect update here at Hockey Royalty. The player who highlighted this week’s weekly prospect update was goaltender Jacob Ingham.

After missing all of last season with an injury, Ingham has rebounded well in the ECHL with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits this season. In 14 games in Greenville, Ingham has recorded an 11-2-0 record and posted a 2.64 GAA and .920 save percentage. In his lone game of the week, he made 30 saves on 31 shots faced in a Swamp Rabbits 4-1 victory over the Atlanta Gladiators. After Pheonix Copley injured himself during practice on Friday (he got placed on long-term injured reserve), the Kings called up David Rittich. Rittich’s call-up meant an open spot on the Reign roster for the backup netminder. With his play in the ECHL, Ingham got called up to Ontario and will serve as the backup to Erik Portillo.

This is a great opportunity for Ingham to continue to prove himself. With the Reign having a back-to-back this week in Abbotsford, head coach Marco Sturm confirmed in his postgame interview after the Reign’s 5-4 shootout victory over Colorado that he will get a start in one of those games.
