Ontario Reign ink two left-shot defensemen

The Ontario Reign signed a pair of defensemen who each spent time with the team during the 2021-22 season.

In a move to strengthen the organizational depth on the left side of the blue line, the Ontario Reign announced the signing of two left-shot defensemen on Tuesday:

Norweigan Christian Kasastul played 25 games for the Reign last season, including spending some time as a forward while the team went through several injuries both in Ontario and Los Angeles.

After coming up from the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits in the middle of December, Kasastul spent the next three months with the Reign. In those 25 games, he tallied one goal and eight points. The 25-year-old played 13 games for the Swamp Rabbits, picking up four assists.

Tyler Inamoto was a 2017 draft pick (133rd overall) by the Florida Panthers. The USNDTP product spent five seasons at the University of Wisconsin, being named an Assistant Captain in his final two seasons.

Known more for his shot-blocking, Inamoto tallied 29 points in his five years in college. The 23-year-old was signed by the Reign to a PTO last season and appeared in two games.

As is the case throughout the organization, the Ontario Reign was a little thin on the left side, with only Cameron Gaunce, Kim Nousiainen, and Tobie Paquette-Bisson inked to deals. Kasastul and Inamoto will provide additional depth.
