The LA Kings have apparently received relatively good news about the lower-body injury Drew Doughty suffered in Friday’s game.
Some LA Kings fans may have had a tough time sleeping on Friday night.
Not just because of the team’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars, but because of the injury suffered by Drew Doughty on this knee-on-knee hit from Stars defensman Jani Hakanpää in the second period.

Doughty was helped back to the Kings dressing room and didn’t return to the game. It didn’t look good and many fans were fearing the worst, but on Saturday morning, Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli reported that the LA blueliner only suffered a minor knee sprain.
Hearing initial prognosis last night on Drew Doughty was positive – a relatively minor knee sprain.
Still awaiting final word today from docs, but certainly a welcomed sigh of relief from #LAKings, Doughty and (!) Hockey Canada after a scary sequence. #Beijing2022

No word yet on how long the injury is expected to keep Doughty out while we wait for final word later today. Since the start of the 2014-15 season he has missed only three regular season games.
Doughty was off to a strong start to the season offensively with seven points (1-6-7) in four games. The two-time gold medalist is hoping a strong season can help secure him a spot on Canada’s Olympic team in February.
