5. Samuel Fagemo – 21 y/o – F – 2019 Round 2 #50 overall
Previous ranking: 3
When I hear the term “natural goal-scorer,” I think of a player with not much flash but still finds ways to put the puck in the net. That is the type of player Samuel Fagemo is. His offensive instinct and highly accurate shot provide a typical placement in the goal column of box scores.
The Kings have hoped for chemistry to develop between some of their young prospects. And they have something in the pairing of Samuel Fagemo and Rasmus Kupari. With Fagemo’s scoring proficiency and the playmaking ability of Kupari, the LA Kings have themselves a dangerous duo percolating in Ontario.
Tony Ferrari The Hockey News
“Shooters shoot, and Fagemo is at his best when he is quite literally firing on all cylinders. Fagemo’s game is built around his speed and his ability to put himself in scoring positions. The Kings asked him to attack more with his speed the last couple of seasons and he’s done so. He is a great complementary scorer who could ride shotgun with a high-end playmaking center (Quinton Byfield?) and put up some pretty solid numbers. He’s right on the precipice of breaking into the NHL lineup and when he does, opposing defenses will have a fun time dealing with his speed and penchant for finding twine.”

Fagemo finished his first season in the AHL, and it was a successful one. Finishing with 18 points (10g, 8a) in 31 games, Sammy was one of three AHL rookies to achieve double-digit goals for the Reign. If not for injury, he may have led the team.
Coming into Development Camp and the Rookie Faceoff, the chemistry between Fagemo and Kupari continued. And the two provided much offense in team scrimmages and during the weekend tournament in Arizona as well. Fagemo is on the cusp of making the LA Kings roster. With a strong start playing for the Ontario Reign, he could find himself in the NHL soon.
