Here are the three takeaways from Wednesday night’s 4-0 victory:

The Reign Train keeps on rolling!

The Reign Train has left the station and doesn’t appear to be stopping anytime soon. The Reign improved their record to 16-8-1-0, sitting alone in second place entering the weekend. They have won eight of their last ten games, including taking two out of three on this road trip. Ontario has held its opponents to two goals or fewer in six of those games. In a division that keeps shifting, racking up points is crucial.

Martin Chromiak scores twice

Shooting the puck has always been the first thing that comes to mind with Martin Chromiak. Last night, he struck gold twice in the victory for his second multi-goal game of the season. The fourth-year forward scored on the power play with a blistering one-timer that probably could’ve put a hole in the net, and early in the second period on a great feed from Francesco Pinelli.

Chromiak’s two-goal night gave him 10 on the year, doubling his total from around this time last season. Consistency was a major focus point for the 23-year-old last year, and while it hasn’t been a massive leap, his production has been better than it was at this point a year ago. Chromiak has 19 points (10 G, 9 A) in 25 games. Playing with Gawdin and Charles Hudon last year looks to have paid dividends for him with his game this year.

Isaiah Saville gets the shutout

It’s been a long road back for Isaiah Saville. After missing all of last year with an injury, Saville signed an AHL contract with the Reign and has filled in nicely, even with a six-goal-against blemish this past weekend against the Colorado Eagles.

Saville earned his fourth win of the season and his first shutout since December 31st, 2023, when he backstopped the Henderson Silver Knights to a 3-0 victory, ironically, against the Reign. He was named the third star of the game for his efforts by stopping all 19 shots he faced. With Pheonix Copley called up to the Kings and Erik Portillo still on the mend (no timetable given for a return), perhaps Saville could see more starts until one of those two returns.

NOTES:

*Glenn Gawdin and Taylor Ward recorded two assists each. Gawdin also earned his 200th AHL assist.

*Kirill Kirsanov scored in his first game back after missing the last three games as he and his wife welcomed a baby.

*Andre Lee recorded his 20th point of the season on his 9th goal of the season, tying his career high in points from last season.

*Francesco Pinelli and Koehn Ziemmer both left the game in the second period. Ziemmer left the game as a result of a hit up high, but returned for the third period and finished the game. Pinelli, on the other hand, didn’t return due to an apparent injury.

*The Reign improved to 11-0-1-0 when leading after two periods.

UP NEXT: The Reign return home Saturday for a matchup against the San Jose Barracuda. It’s the Teddy Bear Toss game!! Puck drop is at 6 PM PST and can be seen on FloHockey or KCAL+ (channel 9.6). You can also listen to the game on the Ontario Reign radio network or the ESPN LA app. Four of the next five meetings will be against the Barracuda to close out 2025.
