2024-25 season

Cole Krygier’s season review will be shorter than the other prospects’. Krygier, drafted in the seventh round by the Florida Panthers in 2018, had his rights acquired by the LA Kings via a trade in March of 2023. He eventually turned pro less than a week later and joined the Ontario Reign to finish out the 2022-23 campaign. Now, Krygier finished his second full season, playing 14 games and recording three points in a depth role for Marco Sturm on the blue line.

Unfortunately, left-handed defenseman appeared to suffer a lower-body injury in the Reign’s 3-2 overtime victory over the Calgary Wranglers and didn’t play in another game the rest of the season. The primary attribute of Krygier’s game is speed, and that’s about it. The 25-year-old is a restricted free agent, and it’s hard to imagine him returning. If he does sign a contract — whether it’s an AHL or NHL deal — it’ll be a depth role once again, which can always be replaced with players on AHL contracts.
