LA Kings Prospect Update – Week 2/17

A week has passed, and it’s time for another LA Kings prospect update. Choosing one player who highlighted this week was tough as many had good performances. Usually, we pick one player to highlight the week, but this time we will do something different for this week’s update. This week’s update will highlight four players.

Here we go!

Liam Greentree (OHL)

Out of the six players chosen, Liam Greentree is the cream of the crop. Greentree continues to dominate in the Ontario Hockey League with eight points (3 G, 5 A) in three games. The captain of the Windsor Spitfires notched 100 career OHL goals, reached the 40-goal mark on the season, and posted his seventh four-point game of the year in Windsor’s 6-5 overtime loss to the Sarnia Sting last Friday. Per the Spitfires’ account on X, he would miss the following game with an illness but returned in Sunday’s contest where he would record three assists. The power forward continues to make plays for himself and his teammates, which reflects his 99 points (40 G, 59 A) in 55 games. He ranks third in the OHL in assists and points and fourth in goals.

Hampton Slukynsky (NCAA)

Hampton Slukynsky continues to perform at every level. Western Michigan University is sitting at the top of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) standings and he is a reason why. Slukynsky made 33 saves on 36 shots faced in Western Michigan’s 4-3 overtime victory over Arizona State University in his lone start; it was the most saves he made and shots he faced in a game this season. The freshman has rotated starts with teammate Cameron Rowe (senior) as the 1A/1B duo sit in the top two in goals-against average (Slukynsky is number one with 1.67) in the NCHC. In 13 games played, Slukynsky leads all goalies in the NCHC with a .939 save percentage. That is also the best of any freshman goalie in the NCAA.

Koehn Ziemmer (WHL)

Koehn Ziemmer recorded four points (2 G, 2 A) in three games. Ziemmer reached the 30-goal plateau in the Prince George Cougars’ 6-3 defeat to the Victoria Royals on Saturday. In addition to reaching 30+ goals on the season in that game, Ziemmer also grabbed sole possession for most goals in Prince George’s franchise history with 121. The 20-year-old has 56 points (31 G, 25 A) in 49 games on the season. He has played second-line center at times this season but has recently been moved back to his natural wing position. He is going to be turning pro next season.

Kaleb Lawrence (ECHL)

Kaleb Lawrence started the week scoreless then filled up the stat sheet by the end of it. Lawrence recorded five points in the final two games for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. He posted a three-point game in Greenville’s 5-4 overtime loss to the Jacksonville Icemen and a Gordie Howe hat trick in their 8-2 win over the Atlanta Gladiators. He finished the week with five points (3 G, 2 A) in four games. The 2022 seventh-round pick has spent time in both the AHL and ECHL. He didn’t play in his first professional game until November 8th in the ECHL after being a healthy scratch for developmental reasons. The 6-foot-7 center has 16 points in 24 games and 28 penalty minutes for the Swamp Rabbits.
