LA Kings

The Vegas Golden Knights stuck it to their Pacific Division rival LA Kings Thursday morning by claiming defenseman Tobias Bjornfot off waivers.

The first-round draft pick from 2019 had only appeared in one game this season for LA and a total of 117 games with the Kings registering 15 points. With minimal playing time and the coaching staff favoring Jacob Moverare as an option on the left side, Bjornfot had difficulty climbing the organization’s depth chart.

“We got our fingers crossed we don’t lose him to another organization, but he needs to play,” head coach Todd McLellan stated after yesterday’s practice. “He’s still a young player and having him practice and not get the reward of being in the competition is not good for him at that young age.”

Bjornfot joins a list of former LA Kings defenders on the Golden Knights roster including Alec Martinez, Brayden McNabb, and Ben Hutton. He’ll have to stay on Vegas’ NHL roster for at least 30 days.

  1. Don’t usually give my opinion but unfortunately this seems to happen too much with the kings . First off I’m a big rob lake fan In what he’s done in general I think they’ve dressed did well I just Feel that when it comes to developing talent in handling talent they are on the lower End of the league. now again this has nothing to do with drafting this has to do with developing and turning these people into legit players not bottom six. This again was bad asset management Or in this case not the right picket 22 which a lot of people felt at the time and they should have gone for somebody like Tominsino(sp). I’m sure people like the mayor will spin it a different way but there is no other way to spin it

  2. You two guys are ridiculous!! To criticize Blake for being unable to keep Bjornfoot shows how little you know or appreciate what Blake has done to build the talent within the organization. A GM can’t play call up everyone and there are situations that can’t be avoided. Putting him on waivers gives them the option to bring him back if no one claims him. Otherwise, they have to release him altogether with zero opportunity to get him back. They also lost Fagemo on waivers last October. For VGK to claim another player shows that Blake is drafting solid prospects.
