After one season in North America with the LA Kings organization, pending free agent Vladimir Tkachev is reportedly heading back to Russia. The 26-year-old inked a one-year contract with Avangard Omsk, his hometown club.

Tkachev came to Los Angeles hoping to secure a full-time role with the NHL club after scoring 11 goals and 27 assists for 38 points in 45 games for SKA St. Petersburg during the 2020-21 season. However, he was optioned to the AHL’s Ontario Reign after four games, despite recording two assists.
With the Reign, he scored seven goals and 22 assists for 29 points in 41 games, including two goals and four assists in the postseason.
