The first-round matchup between the LA Kings and Edmonton Oilers has progressively gotten more chippy. Last night, things came to a head, quite literally.
With time winding down in the middle frame, Darnell Nurse turned and headbutted Phillip Danault as Mike Smith made a save to stop play. The Edmonton Oilers’ defenseman caught the attention of the NHL Player Safety and will have a hearing on Wednesday for said head-butt.
The implications could be enormous should Nurse be suspended for Game 6 on Thursday.

Nurse was not the only guilty party on Tuesday. Zack Kassian and Evander Kane also had some questionable hits on Kings’ players.
