LA Kings Nelson Nogier

In a last-minute deadline move, the LA Kings have traded Markus Phillips to Winnipeg for Nelson Nogier.

Drafted in the fourth round in the 2017 draft, Phillips had yet to suit up for the LA Kings but did get into 74 games for the Reign over the last three seasons. He totaled 15 points (4-11) in those games.

Nogier, 25, adds a total of 11 games of NHL experience but brings with him a much broader resume in the AHL. In 242 games with the Manitoba Moose, he has tallied 41 points. This year he has three goals and three assists. Nelson adds some pedigree of success to the Reign, having suited up in the Memorial Cup tournament in 2013 and 2016.

As the Reign continue their quest for Calder Cup glory, new faces on the blue line could spark some chemistry to stop the four-game skid the Reign have been on to get them back in the win column. The Reign currently sit second in the Pacific Division and are four points back on the Stockton Heat.

The Reign can clinch a playoff berth on Tuesday with a win over the Grand Rapids Griffins or an overtime/shootout loss against the Griffins with the San Jose Barracuda winning over the Heat.
