The Ontario Reign held on to win a wild affair to take back-to-back games from the Tucson Roadrunners.

Here are three takeaways from the contest.

Le Frk, c’est chic, FRK out!

After registering a hat trick on Saturday, Martin Frk picked up right where he left off with a goal and three assists on Sunday. Although he hasn’t been able to stick with the LA Kings this season, there is no denying that Frk is a complete beast in the AHL.

Frk helped the Reign go a perfect 3/3 on the power play with his 18th goal of the year. It is the kind of bomb that is sure to have many Kings asking themselves why he can’t keep a place on LA’s anemic PP unit. Frk now has 9 points (4G, 5A) in his last three games, and it makes you wonder if he may get yet another shot in LA if he keeps this up.

Jacob’s on Duty.

Although the Ontario Reign’s talent-laden offensive line-up tends to garner most of the headlines these days, Reign goalie Jacob Ingham deserves big props for helping the squad come away with 4 points over the weekend.

On Sunday, Tucson had seven power play opportunities. Ingham made several vital saves to hold the Roadrunners at bay, including a big save in the waning seconds of the 3rd to seal the victory.

Much Run and Gun on the Back End.

I know what you are thinking. Why are you quibbling with a team that scored 13 goals in two games? Are you just trying to be a buzzkill?

Well, in both games with Tucson, the Reign were making it too easy for the visitors to gain their zone. Getting caught out of position and making sloppy plays in the neutral did not come back to haunt them this weekend. However, it’s doubtful that they will continue to be so fortunate if they don’t clean things a bit.

The Ontario Reign are off until WednesdayCan any in San Jose for an early 10 am PT start.
