The LA Kings played an actual preseason game, falling to the Arizona Coyotes 2-1 on Monday. It wasn’t televised and neither is tonight’s against the Sharks, but the audio was broadcasted on the iHeartRadio app.
Our very own Russell Morgan and LA Kings Insider Zach Dooley live-tweeted the event, but first, here is the box score:
Full box score here.
Just a few quick observations
- The Kings outshot the Coyotes 36-24, with Martin Frk (5), Arthur Kalievy (4), and Sean Walker (4) leading the way.
- Neither team could convert on the powerplay. I understand it’s preseason, but you don’t like to see Arizona get five chances on the man advantage.
- Sean Walker netted the lone goal for Los Angeles with Arthur Kaliyev and camp invitee Cade McNelly picking up the assists.
Kings take a penalty 52 seconds into the game.

The two teams took part in a practice shootout following the game.
Alex Turcotte scored the only goal of the "shootout", as he deked backhand-to-forehand, while Villalta stopped all three attempts he faced.
You are now welcome to call today's game a 1-0 Kings victory.
