It appears that the LA Kings and Cal Petersen have agreed on a new contract that would keep the netminder with the club long-term.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the LA Kings and goaltender Cal Petersen were closing in on a contract extension.
Petersen, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next summer, used the 2020-21 season to break out as the team’s goaltender of the future, unofficially establishing himself as the No. 1 man between the Kings pipes.

Pagnotta’s tweet came first thing on Wednesday morning, so while no terms of the pending deal have been disclosed yet, it should only be a matter of time before we discover the length and amount of Petersen’s new contract.
Dennis Bernstein, also of The Fourth Period, has since tweeted that the deal is now done.
Deal is done between Cal Petersen and Kings. Expect official announcement soon, as LA camp opens tomorrow. https://t.co/KcyXyUnFBA
